Who We Are 

The Liberty Faculty Association is the union that represents more than 167 active certified educational professionals and 400 members who are retired in the Liberty Central School District. We are dedicated to advancing the professional lives of our members, and enhancing their terms and conditions of employment. The LFA is a forceful advocate for the professional conditions that permit our members to offer the best possible education to the students of the Liberty Central School District.

The LFA has been the exclusive bargaining agent for teachers in the Liberty School District since 1967. The union negotiates, administers and enforces collective bargaining agreements; protects the rights of staff through the grievance and arbitration process; and engages in political activity on behalf of our members and students. We also provide the benefits Dental, Vision, and Personal Health Account through a Welfare Trust Fund.

Our union is part of the 450,000 member New York State United Teachers (NYSUT). We are affiliated nationally with the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and are proud to be part of the AFL-CIO.

Liberty teachers strive to maintain and build a healthy and meaningful relationship with the community we serve. We believe communication between parents and teachers creates an atmosphere of cooperation and a unity of purpose that ensures the highest level of achievement for our students.
